Why do I get far better results for fat loss walking looong for 2 hours to 3 hours than anaerobic sprints?
HIIT and anerobic sprinting exercise is SUCH A SCAM for fat loss. For me it does NOTHING AT ALL.
I get thebest results going for a looong slow walk for 3 hours.
WHY IS THIS?
It’s not a scam if done properly. However, most people don’t do it properly. And, even if done properly, it makes only a slight difference. You only have about ~100 grams of muscle-based glycogen in your body to replace during "afterburn", so even though that will require more energy, it’s not so much more that you’ll notice a huge difference. Exercising for fat loss is the wrong way to go about burning fat anyway. You can burn fat in your sleep or you can run 24×7 and never burn an ounce of fat if you eat too much. That makes the key to losing fat, diet…proper eating habits.
You’re probably expecting too much from HIIT. It’s is extremely difficult for those short all out burst and quite enervating overall. So, it’s probably not for you.
Here’s a quick 12 mintue HIIT workout which if much better than sprints because it works the whole body both aerobically and anerobically. –> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVhhbC51_3k&feature=related . However, if you don’t want to build muscle, then just walk. All you need to do is burn calories and the way to do that is to move a lot of weight for a long time. That can be done however you prefer from walking to dancing to cycling to swimming, etc.

Check out these fat facts.
• If you consume fewer calories than you burn, you have to lose fat eventually. There are no exceptions to this fact.
• A pound of fat will yield about 3500 calories (Kcal) of energy.
• Your body will burn hundreds of calories even if you are in a coma. That’s your BMR. Go here to find out what it is –> http://www.calculator.net/bmr-calculator.html
• An average person must run or walk about 5 miles (8 km) every day to burn one pound of fat per week AND THEIR DIET MUST ALLOW IT.
• An average person must run or walk about 350 miles (563 km) to burn 10 pounds AND THEIR DIET MUST ALLOW IT.
• An average person who consumes 500 calories per day less than they burn will lose about a pound a week with no extra time or physical effort required.
• A average person dieting with a 500 calorie/day deficit will burn 10 pounds of fat in 10 weeks. The same person running 5Km (3 miles) per day with a Zero calorie/day deficit will burn 10 pounds in 16 weeks.
•Running only burns slightly more calories than walking as long as the distance remains the same.
• It does not matter if a person runs or walks a given distance…they will burn about the same number of calories. Although running burns slightly more than walking, the distance is far more significant than the speed over which it is traveled.
• It is not necessary to do "cardio" to burn fat. "Cardio" is aerobic exercise which elevates the heart rate to 80% of max and sustains it for the purpose of cardio-vascular fitness. You can burn fat in your sleep.
• Most of the calories you consume will be spent just keeping your body temperature at 98.6F.
• It doesn’t matter how hard or how long you exercise, you will not lose any fat if you eat too much. You can always eat more calories than you can burn. When it comes to burning fat, diet always trumps exercise.

when you do cardio you get fast energy from i think your liver and not from fat stored in your body.

Well I wouldn’t say it’s quite a "scam" per say b/c there have been multiple studies that indicate HIIT training does allow one to burn more calories away from the gym, if done correctly (done at 90% max volume lung capacity or higher)
As far as you getting better results from 2 to 3 hours of walking over HIIT, well that’s not surprising. You’re comparing apples to oranges. HIIT for 10 minutes compared to 10 minutes of jogging or walking is a more accurate comparison. You can’t simply use any old #’s such as 5 minutes of sprints to 3 hours of walking b/c the amount of calories you burn during 3 hours of walking will clearly off set any extra calories you burn from HIIT.
