  4. so you do believe …
so you do believe people have naturally higher or slower metabolisms?

  5. I agree with …
I agree with KaseyAkira 100% you cant just keep pushing your self all the time, you just burn out. Eventually you will injure yourself. Being healthy is something you need to look at LONG TERM dont forget that! Your metabolizm is not a machine it is cyclic, as such should be your diet and weight gain or loss.

  6. Endos might have to …
Endos might have to do a bit more cardio and watch thier diets while ectos need less cardio but weight training should be the same for all body types. Hard, basic and intense.

  10. To all those people …
To all those people who say this isn’t correct:

Your body doesn’t take the fat and burn it at the same rate it can burn calories that are in your system (not stored yet) so if you run out of calories and are trying to run you system on just fat you are going to crash. This is what happened to me before Steve helped me understand that even though I want to burn fat I still need some calories each day to run my body so it will burn the fat. This guy knows what he’s talking about.

  11. A better strategy …
A better strategy is to take 1 week off from training every 3 weeks you train. A week away from the gym is not long enough to experience any significant atrophy, (especially if maintenance work is done in the form of 1 set to failure, 1 time a week) but certainly is long enough to allow regeneration of the organism as a whole. Granted, getting enough vitamins and protein will prolong the amount of time before you “hit the wall”, but Steve’s suggestions are purely inadequate.

  12. This is where …
This is where non-linear periodization comes in. As you train each week, the level of fatigue your body experiences slowly builds. Even if you let each body part rest 1 week, you’re still exhausting the nervous system to a point from which it cant recover. Chest on Monday, Back on Wed, and Legs on Fri, means you’re training your nerves 3 times a week. Also, as cortisol builds over testosterone, fatigue becomes greater than fitness, and you “hit the wall”. Eating more will not change this.

  13. This is not true.

    This is not true.

People do not “hit the wall” because they’ve run out of fuel, since there are plenty of fat stores to provide more fuel. People who work out constantly without observing the law of GAS (general adaptation syndrome) are liable to suffer from neuro-chemical fatigue, as the organism begins to exhaust as a whole, and accumulative fatigue becomes greater than accumulative fitness (see fitness-fatigue theory).

  14. How long does it …
How long does it usually take to start seeing results from diet and exercise?

  15. I hit the wall …
I hit the wall 10lbs away from my goal lol. tried more exercise and started crashing. switched to better diet and crashed again. lol
So the solution is eat more and exercise more? Raise both? Hmmm that’s almost crazy enough to work. lol

  19. hey steve, i did …
hey steve, i did not consistently excercise for 4 years due to studying in hs. however,i did keep my weight around 110 lbs due to diet. For 4 months now, i have been running about 2 miles once or twice a week with 5 hours of dance. i also do ab work and squats with dumbells. however, i’m still at the same weight before i exercised (110 lbs, 5′5), im wondering if i should eat more and how much more calories should i intake? i eat about 800-1000 calories a day.

  20. Steve, what happens …
Steve, what happens if you do cardio twice a day - eg, 20 mins on a lifecycle in the morning, and another 20 mins in the evening? Is there a disadvantage to this? (Thanks for all your great advice, and for helping us cut through so much of the BS that is flooding the fitness market!)
