Again, Losing weight and breastfeeding??
Five days ago, I weighed 195. today, I weigh about 188. My scale re calibrates itself every time it turns on. I am not diabetic. I walk five nights a week for thirty to forty minutes, And I do moderate aerobics like situps, pushups and squats, for about 20 minutes every day. I am breastfeeding. I do not eat processed food, I only eat whole grains, no white sugar or flour. I drink plenty fluids all day long. I only eat natural food. I weighed 220 after I gave birth, which was December 24. now i weigh 188. Am I losing weight too fast? Somewhere someone told me that ketones that you produce when burning body fat can harm baby’s development and brain. This is starting to concern me. I was told that if you are losing more than one pound a week that your body gives off ketones…Anybody know anything about this?
I’m not sure if its unhealthy or not, but breastfeeding burns a good 500 plus calories. It could just be that. I’d assume that it couldn’t do much harm if its the bodies natural response.

There are a few things that need to be considered to answer this question. What was you pre-pregnancy weight? Breatfeeding is supposed to help a mother return to it quicker than anything else. Is this your first child? Most women maintain their weight after 2 or more children unless you’re predispositioned to be thin. Also, calculate your weekly weight loss. Weight-loss experts recommend no more than 2-3 pounds per week (average). I would calculate this from the day you gave birth.
Overall, I think there’s nothing to worry about. Enjoy your baby and let the weight fall where it may….
