i was diagnosed anorexic in February (my ana only lasted 3 months because they were threatening hospitalization and i cant stand hospitals) ive been eating normal since april
since then i have cut out these items because they scare me (all of which i used to love):
soda
pasta
potatoes
rice
meat
any bread that has more than 50 calories in it
any white bread
any salad dressing other than the 1 calorie sprays
anything fried
any fast food
egg yolks (i only eat the whites now)
mayo
butter
ice cream
any juice that isnt 100% pure
that’s all i can think of at the time
i try to get my nutrients in i eat beans and soy beens and low fat yogurt for my protein i try to avoid carbs as much as i can and anything high in fat. it makes me a little nervous to eat any of the foods listed above and if i do eat them i feel kind of fat.
i go to the gym ever day for 2-3 hours doing cardio for about 1 1/2 hours burning 600 calories minimum. if i miss a day at the gym i feel anxious and stressed and fat and end up eating less and doing extra cardio the next day.
i also try to keep my calories below 2000 a day. like today i had a peach and a cup of yogurt for breakfast when i woke up at 1pm
then a big bowl of salad with soy beans for lunch. its my moms birthday so i made ultimate fudge brownies for her which i ended up eating about 1/3 of it
oops which to my calculations was around 900 calories so for dinner i had another bowl of salad with soy beans and about 10 cherries. which i assume leaves me somewhere around 1300 calories. and then i went to the gym and burnt 850 calories.
do you think i obsess to much over it? like is it bad to cut out so much?
also so you know i am 18 years old considered athletic 5′3 128lbs. i know im not fat i know im average im just scared to death of gaining weight because a lot of my family members are obese
btw i already go to a therapis
You are a little obsessive about your weight. There are a lot of problems with the eating and exercising habits that you have listed. Here are a few reasons why:
The fact that you cut those things out of your diet is not bad. Truthfully speaking, getting rid of things like soda, white bread, and fried food is excellent. Also keeping your calories below 2000 is fine in principle. However, your diet is too restrictive whereas your work out habits are too excessive.
Using the past day as an example, you burned 850 of the 1300 calories you consumed, effectively reducing your calorie intake to just 450. That is simply not enough calories to maintain your habit of working out at the gym 2 - 3 hours straight daily. You are depriving your body of the energy it needs to do all this, and you will ultimately do more harm to your body than good.
The problem with spending so much time doing cardio is that you end up neglecting your strength. Unless you balance cardio with strength training, you will lose muscle and slow your metabolism to a grinding halt. This leaves you more susceptible to injury and other complications. You are in fact spending too much time at the gym.
Secondly, you are probably not getting enough nutrients through your diet, especially if you take the past day as an example. Sure, you will not gain weight, but you can still become malnourished. Your diet should be healthy and balanced. Considering how often you go to the gym, you should really be eating at least 2000 calories a day. If you do strength training with your cardio and eat this much, you will not gain weight. If you insist on eating so sparingly, then at least take a multivitamin.
I genuinely understand the fear of gaining weight, but your obsession over it will hurt you in the end, so please take all of this into consideration.
