Fat loss?!!!?

I’m skinny, but I just have a bit of belly flab. How do I get rid of it?
I get a lot of excersize, because I do it every morning. I’m also a horse vaulter but I just can’t get rid of it!

Lose weight and fast?

I’m only 15 years old
and have a huge problem
I weigh about 230 lbs.
and have been overweight since 1st grade
my doctor says if i don’t lose weight fast
i’ll end up with HUGE medical problems
like diabetes and heart disease

Breakfast - Oatmeal - the Weight control one with FF milk and a banana
Snack - an orange
Lunch - 97% ff ham with 2 slice light bread. Raw veggies with the Walden farms calorie free dressing, a sf ff yogurt
Snack - split a bag of lf microwave popcorn
Dinner - A broiled chicken break, a baked potatoe with Salsa topping, a giant salad with Walden Farms Calorie free dressing

Snack - a container of sf fat free yogurt, a cup of ff milk and a cup of frozen fruit. THrow in blender for a fruit smoothie.

Exercise - start on a tread mill at 20-30 minutes, go as fast as you are comfortable, every few days add 5 minutes to time and try to increase speed or incline

On alternate days lift weights. Do a circuit of upper, lower body and core. As much weight as you can 12 reps.

Drink lots of water, sf jello and clear soups are good too.

Avoid cakes, cookies, candies, chocolate. Sugar.

Ok, it is christmas I know - allow your self 1 (ONE) coookie or piece of candy per day.

Walk the dogs, on top of other exercise. You will both benefit.

Should I join?

I want to join the water polo team, and I have to make my mind by Friday. I have aroudn 5 months before the practices and game start. Thing is I’m fat. No one likes to see a fat kid in a speedo. If I say yes on Friday, I have to burn 2 lbs every week hoping to see myself getting thinner and thinner. If I say no, I can do it on my own pace. But If I say yes, it’ll give me a reason to exercise on my own time. And if I say No, I procrastinate ALOT. So, please help me. And Also, If you say yes, can you provide a list of exercises, food, and other tips for me? And the only equipment I have available is a Treadmill, 2 3lbs dumbells, 2 5 lb dumbells, and a Chin up bar. Thank you~

There are three possible ways to gain body-fat: (1) Eat late at night (2) Exceed your normal caloric intake (3) Lack of exercise or physical activity.

When calories exceed normal levels, the "unused" surplus becomes body-fat. Lack of exercise limits metabolism speed. The metabolism must reach a certain speed in order to burn fat.

The best way to speed up your metabolism is through cardiovascular exercise. is best to do cardio on an empty stomach. Overnight during sleep, calories are burned slowly. By morning, blood sugar and carb levels low. This empty stomach training forces the body to look for an alternate energy source, which is fat.

The second best way to speed up the metabolism is by increasing meal frequency. Try eating 4 - 5 small meals per day, or 3 meals and 2 healthy snack meals.

One of the best ways and easiest ways to lose fat is to reduce your calorie intake. Very simple substitutions can make a lot of difference. Here are some simple examples:

Some good weight loss tips:
Tip 1: Limit High Carbohydrate Foods- To maximize the fat-burning process, it’s best to gradually eliminate carbohydrates toward the end of the day. This minimizes your chances of storing fat late at night.
Tip 2: Motivate Yourself- Try to find an incentive for getting in shape and burning fat.
Tip 3: Low-Calorie Food Alternatives- Try to save as many calories as you can. Substitute water for soda, baked chicken for fried chicken, sub sandwiches for pizza, etc.
Tip 4: Don’t starve Yourself- Starving only promotes a bigger "rebound" effect because your body likes to hold on from what it is deprived of. Instead, fuel the body every 2 to 3 hours with small meals.
Tip 5: Drink 1 or More Glasses of Water Before Meals- This is to help fill the stomach and give you a full feeling.

Tips on losing 10-15 pounds in 2 weeks?

I’m 16 years old, 168 pounds. My body build is big, but not fat. Im going on a cruise in 2 weeks and would like to get some tips on how to lose about 10-15 pounds. Me and my friends have a frozen pound out behind my house where we play hockey for about 3 hrs almost every day(Cardio?) so i am burning calories. Should I keep that up, or throw in a daily jog? I have already started eating less junk food, and eating more veggies and fruits. Also, any suggestions on a work out routine to tone my body? I already do crunches + push ups daily. Also, can anyone list some common house hold foods filled with protein? Any tips on a work out plan / tips on losing some pounds would be greatly appreciated!! : )

Healthy weight loss is between 1-2lbs a week.

Your body needs a certain amount of fuel (food) each day to stay alive and do any exercise/activities that you’re involved in. If you eat slightly less than this amount then your body will burn fat to make up the difference. If you eat way less than this amount, you’ll go into starvation mode and won’t lose anything.

Figure out how many calories you need to eat each day to lose weight, how many extra calories you burn through exercise, and how many calories are in the foods you eat. You can do all of that here:

Can you explain fat loss versus muscle gain to me?

After a couple weeks working out with a trainer, my weight is EXACTLY the same, but measurements with a tape measure and calipers say that I’ve lost inches, and more importantly, that I’ve lost 2 lbs of fat and gained 2 lbs of muscle. Is this correct? How does that work?

You’re exactly right. Visualize a pound of cotton balls and then a pound of rock, the cotton balls take up a massive amount of volume but the rock is small and dense. Your fat is "fluffy" but the lean tissue is solid and small and will burn much more calories to maintain than fat tissue. Don’t worry about the scale numbers, if you want numbers to concentrate on use fat calipers or your measurements.

You will lose more body fat eating protein and fat (don’t eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you’ll need added potassium). Keep the calories high and the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

If you starve yourself by lowering calories lower than are needed for the body to function, your body will freak out and will want to store every ounce in case it doesn’t get nourished again. You need to give it adequate nourishment so it doesn’t slow your metabolism down to adjust for lower calories.

Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.

Simple carbs are addictive and can be disastrous to our health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs and eat one every time you want "something" have huge omelets for breakfast, with bacon, a lil onion, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Pork chops for lunch. Get pork rinds and eat them with tuna salad. Steak for dinner. Make a huge sugar free cheese cake for dessert. Eat so much you won’t feel deprived of anything. By the fourth day, your addiction will be gone and you can start making healthy choices.

High insulin levels unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.

Once you get near your goal, you start adding 5 carbs every 3 days til you gain weight, then you subtract 10 carbs. That would give you your personal carb level (everyone is different and it depends on how active you are.) As long as you remain <9 carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control, and shouldn’t gain weight. Many people gain weight on high carb, then switch to low carb to lose weight & then are shocked when they return to high carb that they gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar and maintain weight or health.

Dr.Atkins was a cardiologist, low carb was a health plan easier sold as a "diet" Read any of his books for easily understandable science. Lutz "Life without Bread" & Taubes "Good calorie, bad calorie" are excellent books that dispel all the nutrition myths.

AM I FAT AT ALL…………..?!?

I am 16 years old and a female. I’m 5′1 and around 85 lbs. I’m eating about 1000-1200 calories per day (my BMR is 1200) and burning about 300-600 per day, doing moderate exercise, like yoga and running. I’m trying to cut back on what im eating, like only healthy foods like whole grains, fruit and lean protein, like lean chicken and shrimp and beans. But im really wondering if any of my measurements seems fat.

Wrist: 5 inches
Upper arm: about 8 inches
Bust: 32 A
Waist: 23.5 inches
Hips: 29 inches
Thighs (upper): 16 inches
Thighs (middle): 15 inches
Calves (middle): 10 inches
Ankles: 6 inches

I’m just feeling fat b/c there seems to be like gazillions of people who are like 5′7 and have like 23 inch waists and 13 inch thighs and i feel so freaking fat and im scared to eat cuz im worried about gaining weight. Like if i eat more food than i planned on eating even if its somewhat healthy, i feel really bad.

Just tell me if any measurement seems fat at all!
