what happens if you don’t eat meals regularly and just snacks?

ok, hello. my sis is a junior in highschool, and she has to work hecka hard (she has all AP classes and 1 zero period) so she goes to bed around 2:00am, and wakes up at 5:00am to go to school. She doesn’t eat a breakfast, and she never has time to make a lunch, and she can’t buy a lunch every day because it cost around $15(don’t ask me why it’s so expensive). I try to make her a lunch whenever I can but I don’t have a lot of time to do it either.
What could happen to her if she only eats snacks, such as chips, an orange, fruit snacks, and gatorade or water. Can she get a seizure or something?
Also please post opinions about what she should eat according to this information-she does a lot of school work and goes to bed late so she doesn’t get a lot of sleep. She goes to tennis practice after school, and she doesn’t even have any food to burn, so it burns her fat, which she doesn’t have a lot of.
Also post tips for students in freshman hischool year like me. ty

I don’t know if she could have a seizure…. but she can burn herself out from poor nutrition and lack of sleep. This can lead to a weaker immune system. The question is… how can she fit more calories in if necessary, and also, is she getting enough rest?
Tell her to take snacks with her that are energy boosters (i.e trail mix) and tell her to try to get quick meals in (i.e. a sandwich and some yogurt)… it takes no more than 10 minutes to eat this, and five minutes to make.

  1. That is ridiculous, you cannot get 3 hours of sleep a night at that age! I don’t know if you’re exaggerating that or what, but that is a much bigger concern than what she is eating! She is going to hinder her physical and mental development greatly by depriving her body of that much sleep. She’s getting less sleep in 2 nights than she should be getting in one.

School is important but if it’s going to interfere with your health and development, you really need to reconsider those decisions. I’m not even going to get into the food situation, you need to let your parents or someone know what is going on.

  2. you screw up your metabolisim, and then get fat, full meals are important. if its just snaks eat healthy ones only. Big breakfast is very important. Plus high school is soo easy, do your homework and stay awake in class (eating breakfast helps alot!)

  4. She’s a candidate for an eating disorder because this will not lower her weight, but increase it. It’s like the body is starving for fuel so instead of processing it and using what it needs when it only gets food on an irregular schedule, the body says hold on, lets use all of this because I don’t know when I’ll get more. Thus fat cells increase for storage and usually in the wrong places so she could have heart problems in future. Her metabolism will suffer as will the movement of her GI tract. She is also not getting the nutrients she needs for her brain, mental and physical development and energy for the day.
She’s way overdrawn on her body bank account. She will get sick and have no way to fight off infection and flues etc.
They say you cannot die from lack of sleep, but in this case you can get sick or suffer mental issues. Sleep is your repair time…to heal what’s not doing well and to grow and to establish good mental health.
The exercise she does is probably burning muscle, not fat.
A diet that is not consistent and does not have the basic food groups including greens is a recipe for body disaster.
She needs a counsellor….quick. She seems to be driven and her high energy level may have a physiological basis, like hyperthyroid. At this rate she’s going to burn out.

  5. It’s very not good to have diet that not balance, just try to prepare simple lunch like sandwich, and told her to eat various of fruit for her snack (banana, apple, melon, pear, and other fruits), not just orange, ask her to drink milk, not just water or gatorade, ask her to eat cracker, biscuit, bun, sweet potato or something else for carbohydrates for source of energy. that’s all can suggest.
for you just act as usual
