Is short exercises several times a day effective for losing weight? Will I lose weight from what I’m doing?

Hi, I am a college student and would like to tone up. Over the summer, I gained around 10 pounds due to eating late at night and just…relaxing. I am looking to losing the 10 pounds. I am currently 115 pounds, barely 4′11 (yes, i’m a midget), small boned so a healthy weight for me ïs around 105 or less.

My plan is to just cut back on junk, but I will still be enjoying certain foods (ice cream etc) time to time…This is because I don’t do well with strict diets. However, I will make sure that I am getting a calorie deficiet daily.

NOW my question is whether working on several times a day (morning, afternoon, evening…whenever i can squeeze in some) is effective in fat loss. I read that it takes your body 15 minutes to start burning fat…I do not have the time for hour long workouts so my plan is to jump rope 3 times a day or more for around 5 minutes, do streches and some ab work at night, and walk for 20 minutes at a moderate pace.

Will such spread out exercise help me lose some fat? Please do not give me a lecture on my weight. I am NOT healthy right now and do need to lose the 10 pounds I gained which is definately not muscle.

Hi, no lectures here! I think your decision to just cut back is smart. As for the workouts, there is recent research that indicates that short workouts like you’re suggesting are actually better for fat-burning than one long workout. So, go for it! People ask me all the time when is the best time for working out (morning, night, etc.) and I always tell them that the best time is whenever you can fit it into your busy schedule. Your body doesn’t care. The calories will be burned and the health-benefits will be realized! Good luck!

  2. excesses only works if you can keep you heart rate up to a good pace for at least 20 min so if you can give 20 min 3 or 4 times a day than you should do good loosing the 10 lbs but you also need to watch the amount of food you consume. good rule of thumb burn off more than you consume
