does your body burn fat for energy before it burns muscle?

I’m 5′8" about 191 pounds with 15% body fat. My question is if were to become extremely sick for a week or so and didn’t eat very much food during that time… would my body begin to use fat for energy or would it start breaking down the muscle first?
Your body would break down both fat and muscle. The body usually tends to break down muscle as a last resort, but if you’re sick (or physically inactive) and not using the muscle then it’s fair game to be recycled into an energy source when your body starts to run out of carbs.

I’m pretty sure it would take your fat before muscle. Fat is the 2nd most use of energy in the body, carbohydrates being the first. So your body would use the carbs, then go to your fat deposits for energy.

however its really not advisable just because unlike animals like bear or similar, our body does not use it or store it that way, out body can at best supplement the shortage in energy with fats, btu you really cannot live off the fat, it does not break in the energy fast enough.
